Hurricane Harvey, which struck in 2017, inflicted damage of $125 billion in the state of Texas. The floods that resulted have inundated hundreds of thousands of houses, which forced 30,000 to get displaced. American lost their lives and their homes. In the wake of the disaster, Stream Energy used their earnings from energy sales and was among the first companies to fund to fund the recovery and to ease the financial burden of its customers.

Stream Energy is one of the biggest companies in the United States which offers connected life services and direct selling services. They offer wireless, energy, and home services. The Dallas-based company was established in 2005 and generated more than $8 billion in revenue since then. Their services are available in multiple states, and they have been named in the Top 10 Most Trusted Retail Electric Providers in the state of Texas.

In order to formalize their ongoing philanthropic activities throughout the state of Texas and throughout the United States, Stream established their own charity foundation, “Stream Cares”, even though launching a philanthropy branch is somewhat of a new concept. The company has engaged in philanthropic activities in the past as well, having a long-term relationship with the Red Cross and with Habitat for Humanity.

A particular cause that Stream associates have a deep care for is homelessness, as the company routinely tracks the level of homelessness in the state of Dallas. Stream Energy have been working together for over 4 years. The partnership resulted in the “Splash for Hope” event, which is designed to bring children to a local water park, allowing the company to offer them money and supplies. In addition, Hope Supply Co. provides diapers, school supplies and clothing for homeless children.

Another case where Stream was involved was in the aftermath of the tornadoes that hit North Texas in 2016. Stream Energy worked with the Salvation Army and raised thousands of dollars in order to provide help to tornado victims who lost their businesses or their homes. Stream matched the funds and doubled the donations that were brought by associates.
