Sergey Petrossov is the CEO and founder of JetSmarter, a private jet and charter flight sharing platform similar to Uber. Prior to founding JetSmarter, Petrossov was the Co-Founder of LiveContact and served as its Vice President of Business Development from 2006 to 2009. In 2009, Petrossov tried to book a private jet and found the process to be very tedious and expensive.
Petrossov wanted to disrupt the brick and mortar oligarchy that makes up the charter flight booking process so he created JetSmarter. JetSmarter allows users to book seats on existing charter flights anywhere in the world. This sharing helps lower the costs of private flights and makes travel far easier.
After coming up with the idea for the app, Petrossov hired his development team which includes developers who have worked for BMW, NASA, Uber, Nokia, and other major companies. Initially, he invested his own funds to use as capital. In 2012, a beta version of the app was released as proof of concept for select users and investors. Thanks to this beta version, Petrossov was able to acquire more investment capital and was able to collaborate with other partners. He established relationships with many charter carriers to get them on board as partners. He was also able to raise capital from the royal family in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and music mogul Jay-Z as well as investor/film producer Wayne Chang.
Sergey Petrossov immigrated from Russia when he was four years old and has lived in California, Colorado and South Florida. When he was 11 or 12, he settled in South Florida with his family. At the age of 18, he began attending college at the University of Florida and studied Finance.
Currently, JetSmarter is partnered with over 800 charter carriers around the world. This gives users access to over 3,200 aircraft and 4,000 flight hours every month. At only 30 years old, Petrossov has forever changed the face of air travel.
