The Chainsmokers is an electronic dance DJ duo (Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart) from New York. Five of their songs managed to reach the top 10 list on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Both Pall and Taggart started as deejays single-handedly before coming together to form The Chainsmokers.
While growing up in New York City, Pall always knew that he would pursue a career in deejaying. According to him, pursuing music is more like fun than a job. Pall made a realization that dance music was becoming part of his life and decided to give it a proper shot. He later got the chance to meet Andrew Taggart when he was working with their current manager.
Drew and Pall had the same ambition with regards to music. Pall believes that they knew what they liked musically after a few days of meeting each other. The DJs were both very observant about the ongoing events around them and trends in electronic dance music. They also liked to experiment with different sounds before coming up with their unique sound.
The Birth of “The Chainsmokers”
Through their frequent interactions, Drew and Pall focused on shaping an identity around their music. They were also visionary about making an impact in the music industry. They got together every day with a goal of working on music and creating their identity as artists. Though the DJs didn’t want to treat it like a job, they knew that there was a lot for them to learn and cover.
Turning Passion to Income
