In a recent interview with Bill Rhoden from HBCU 468 podcast where he talked about his new book, Charlamagne Tha God said, “That song is about not being soft or shook. But I am a shook one. A lot of things I thought I did was fearless, but I realized a lot of things that I did, I did because I was scared.”

It also seems that Charlamagne Tha God has another gift; he can see the future. During the interview, Charlamagne Tha God said he knew that the moment would come when such a thing as the #MeToo movement would arise. And, according to him, the time has come for men to square away how they relate to women. He said, “It’s difficult when you are thinking a different way and people are using things from five years ago, six years ago, seven years ago, eight years ago and trying to paint a narrative of you now. If you want to judge for me old things, I’m fine with that. My narrative has completely changed. But you can’t compare 20-year-old Charlamagne, 30-year-old Charlamange to 40-year-old Charlamagne, who’s a father and husband.”

Victoria Doramus is a prolific individual with a variety of work experience. Her experience spans from creative to business, print to digital. She attended the University of Colorado, and ran the course for four years to earn her bachelor’s degree in mass communication and journalism. Her work as a writer proved that her interest in journalism worked to her benefit. One of her most notable moves was volunteering for the Amy Winehouse foundation, where she devoted several hours to undo the effects of addiction.

After volunteering for so long and getting a first hand look at the contagious nature of positive doing, Victoria Doramus set out to reproduce the optimism she saw in the Amy Winehouse foundation. Her, along with her coworkers, helped set up many charities as well as started her own. Some of these would include Room To Read and Best Friends Animal Society. Room To Read’s main audience is children of low-income neighborhoods and it focuses on giving them the tools and support to gain a good education and improve literacy. Best Friends Animal Society seeks to protect animals liable for mistreatment in shelters. Doramus has significantly reduced the number of animals killed in shelters, narrowing the count down to roughly 2 million per year.

Doramus’s gracious response towards a world in hurt is all that one could hope to do. Going from a personal assistant of a film director, to a writer, to a philanthropist, Victoria Doramus has the gift of healing. The world has a lot to gain from people willing to follow in her footsteps.

Ara Chackerian is a businessperson who is also known for his work in philanthropy. Much of Mr. Chackerian’s work is focused on efforts by communities. Based in San Francisco, California, Ara Chackerian has been performing mainly in the field of healthcare. Here, he has been incorporating technology into healthcare services for years. He has a vast knowledge on how to combine the two to better the services provided by related institutions. Ara Chackerian’s interest in healthcare provision pushed him to pioneer TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Health Solutions. This service aims at providing outpatient diagnostics in psychiatry. The service has been a solution for people suffering from depressive disorders.

Other than healthcare, Ara Chackerian has interests that span over youth development and environmental development causes. An instance of Mr. Chackerian’s interest in the environment is Limonapa Teak, a farm in Nicaragua that grows teak. The farm uses agricultural practices that are friendly to the environment. The practices also focus on enhancing the environment as opposed to destroying it in addition to providing jobs for the people living around it. Check out arachackerian.com

Ara Chackerian’s has shown his concern for the environment in the blogs he posts. For instance, he has explained the problem that came with Japan’s move on the country’s forestry plans. Japan, according to Ara Chackerian, cleared a large part of their forests that were decades old to make way for trees that grew faster. This move was meant to cater for the growing demand for construction materials in the 50s. The plan did not work as planned. The repercussions of the Buna Massacre, as it was labeled, hit both the people and the wildlife as well. The result of an estimated 17 million trees being cut down was planting foreign forests.

Years later, Ara Chackerian says that Japan’s forestry industry had reduced by more than half to $450 billion as of 2014. The people who worked in the industry were hit as well and most of them opted for other sources of income. The number reduced by two thirds from the original 146,000 workers. This small number of workers has resulted in an irregular growth of the forests. The result of this, according to Ara Chackerian, is floods and landslides in the country.
